The Cynthiana Martial Arts™ Dojang was founded on April 11, 2019 in the town of Cynthiana, Indiana. Classes are held in the former Methodist Church right on Main St. The Dojang isn’t the first time the martial arts have been held here in Cynthiana, a brown belt under then Master (now Grandmaster) Choi, Yong-sik out of Louisville, KY. under the banner of the World Taekwondo Association and Grandmaster Son, Duk-sung taught some local residents in the town park in the late 1970s to early 1980s.
The Cynthiana Dojang still carries that same tradition and root style, as the head instructor too has a black black under Grandmaster Son and still teaches that traditional style of Taekwondo/Tangsoodo to this day! We also instruct in “orthodox” Taekwon-Do as promoted by Choi, Hong-hi, and for sporting events the “Kukki-style” of Taekwondo. While Taekwondo is our “base” style, we also instruct our students in American Kenpo Karate as founded by Ed Parker and promoted by Al Tracy. We also teach Hapkido as promoted by Grandmaster Myung, Kwang-sik and Grandmaster Kimm, He-young.
